Kutch District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd Is widely known as “Sarhad Dairy” was established in the year 2009. It’s registered under Gujarat co-operative societies act 1961, having reg. number 38861-09 dated 28/07/2009. Sarhad Dairy is a member of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd “GCMMF” Ltd Anand. Its primary activity is collecting milk from village co-operative societies and processing and packing milk and milk products under the brand name of “AMUL”. The operational area of the Union is an entire district of Kutch district covering 10 talukas.

In the beginning Union was collecting milk from the 17 village co-operative societies but now Sarhad dairy is collecting milk from more than 900+ Villages co-operative societies locating in Kutch district which supplying milk to dairy’s chilling centers and dairy is collecting milk from dairy’s own various chilling centers located in the Kutch district.

In the month of January 2013 Sarhad dairy has started processing plant at- Lakhond, ta-Bhuj-Kutch processing milk and making milk pouch under the brand name of “AMUL” currently it has a capacity of 2, 00,000 liters per day.

In the month of August 2022 Sarhad dairy has started processing plant at- Chandrani, ta-Anjar-Kutch processing milk and making milk pouch under the brand name of “AMUL” currently it has a capacity of 4,00,000 liters per day expandable upto 6 Lac liters per day.

Objectives

  • Provide Balancing to the milk Demand and milk Supply by collecting milk from the rural areas and supply it to the urban areas.
  • Pasteurize, Process, homogenize and sell the milk through GCMMF Ltd.
  • Provide veterinary services to the members.
  • Arrange and distribute cattle feeds at a subsidized or reasonable rate.
  • Provide Milk Procurement infrastructure to the VDCS to bring transparency.
  • Provide and assist VDCS to avail the benefit of govt. schemes.
  • Develop infrastructure for better quality milk production and supply management.
  • Conduct training and awareness Programs for VDCS.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to maintaining hygiene milk procurement
  • Women empowerment by giving subsidized milk rate
  • Provide Protection against exploitation of milk producers by encouraging the competitive milk market.
